Fatima Beyina-Moussa

Biography:

Fatima Beyina-Moussa is the CEO of ECAir (Equatorial Congo Airlines). She is the first woman to have been elected President of AFRAA (Association of African Airlines) and to have chaired the annual general assembly of that organization. ECAir operates flights from its hub at Maya-Maya Airport, in Brazzaville.

Fatima began her career as a financial auditor at Ernst & Young, before joining the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) as a senior manager. She then worked as an Economist at UNDP headquarters (United Nations Development Program) in New York, and then as Program Manager in charge of the innovation fund, in Lagos, Nigeria, at EFInA (Enhancing Financial Innovation and Access), a project funded by DFID (British Department for International Development).

Upon her return to Congo, Fatima held the position of Advisor for Economy and Reforms to the Minister of Finance. In that capacity, she oversaw the restructuring of the national insurance company as the General Administrator as well as the creation of the national airline, ECAir. She then became its first CEO.

Fatima holds a Bachelor in Finance from HEC-Montreal, an MBA from the University of Ottawa and a DEA (Diploma of Advanced Studies) in Economics from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences-Po). She has also participated in numerous professional trainings, including at Harvard University Kennedy School of Government and the IMF Institute (Monetary Fund International).

Passionate about education issues, Fatima is the founding President of the African Foundation for Education (AFE) and is the Founder and Board Chair of the American International School of Brazzaville (AISB).

Under her leadership, the AFE, which is a UNESCO club, has established several education programs promoting excellence in Congo and in Central Africa, including the creation of the American International School of Brazzaville (AISB), the refurbishment of local schools, the creation of a vocational and linguistic training center, as well as an information and guidance center for young people.

Fatima led the establishment of partnerships between the AFE and the Tony Elumelu Foundation, as well as with the BEM Africa group, with which the AFE has just created BEM Management School Brazzaville, the first international Business School in Congo.

The AFE has, since its creation, been the partner in Congo of HEC Montreal (one of the most famous business schools in Canada), the Alma Mater of Fatima, with which she has maintained very strong ties and with which the AFE has set up several training programs for executives of Central Africa.

Fatima is regularly called upon to be a member of panels of discussion covering different topics and is followed by tens of thousands of people on social networks.
